Setting A Reward System for Kids Under 5 Years Old

Written by Varsha Asrani

Instilling positive values and teaching good behavior is what almost every parent desires for their kids. Setting a reward system right from childhood is one of the most effective methods to get them to do what you (as a parent) want.

The key to success here is to come up with inventive, interesting, and long-lasting rewards for kids. What matters and sticks in a child’s mind is giving rewards that create moments and have value.

In this blog, I will tell you about reward systems that are creative as well as cost-effective.

Appreciation and Benevolence

When a child does something good, praise them. Explain to them what they did well in detail. When their behaviors and choices are the right ones, give them compliments.

Appreciation from someone they love and trust will encourage them to repeat good behavior and form a habit. Smile and be nice to your kids, even on trying days. They look up to you and want to know that you care about them.

You would be astonished at the miraculous response you could get even from a stubborn kid with appreciation and acknowledgment of their good behavior.

Coupons

Coupons are a great way to reward kids. Any action or accomplishment can be rewarded at any time of day with coupons. A child earns a coupon from a coupon box or drawer when they accomplish something well.

Allow toddlers to choose the coupon they would like to receive. The coupons include activities that kids enjoy. You can add things like “Wear new clothes,” “Meal with a Friend,” and “Special Supplies,” among other things.

Kids enjoy making their own decisions about what is important to them. Each coupon is both motivational and entertaining.

Certificates

Let kids know that they did a fantastic job and that they should keep it up. They can be kept as a memory. Children love these certificates and even share them with their families and display them on their bedroom walls. Certificates are something to be proud of.
